Today while l was at my friends car lot he showed me a picture of his friends 1981 red vert cut out of a magazine. The vette is in Fla. and the engine was swapped for a 350/250hp engine. I don't remember a 350/250hp engine do you?

The vert conversion looked perfect and the vette was in concours condition.

Not in 81 it wasn't. From my Corvette Black Book, it looks like the 1973 L82 engine was rated at 250Hp. Hope this helps.

*And the 74 L82 also*

I saw a 1981 Conversion in Scottsdale, AZ a few years ago, it was gorgeous black with red interior. I think we have a member here at the Action Center that has a 1980 Vert Conversion. I never thought to ask when I saw that 81 in Scottsdale how or if they supported the windshield different from stock or not..

As for the engine, well a good builder can give whatever you want.. even a 502 or TPI we have a 1981 in the Registry that has a TPI and turbo :eek

Yeah, I just figured he meant that it was swapped out for another Corvette motor.

They could be doubles!

The 81 was the exact same color and the vette is in Fla. and the owners first name is Bruce who lived up north in Jersey or Pa.

He swapped the engine and wasn't sure from where. I will look at the picture next saturday when l stop by his place again.

p.s. My friends name is Joe Scotto

ACI did a turbo convertable conversion way back when. Could it possibly by a Duntov Turbo?

Hey 80vert, did you have that done or did you purchase the car that way?? The reason I ask is because back in about 82-83, my wife and I were at the Atlantic City car show/auction and saw a red 80 vert just like yours. There aren't too many of them, and was wondering if that could be the same one???

Chrisr,

I purchased my vette this way. I talked to the shop that performed the conversion. It was done around 1997 or so, so it could not be the one you saw.
