81 Won't start

Starts fime most mornings. Today for the second time in two weeks, it would not. Turns over fine. Last week, left it, went home at lunch and it fired up the first time it turned over. Runs fine after it does start. Has an Eddlebrock Carb. Bad card or........

Yes, all new plugs, wires, dist. cap last summer.

Could be a number of thing's.Check for spark at the "coil" wire,center of dist. cap.Remove wire from cap and put screwdriver in it and leave space between screwdriver and ground,should be a bright blue spark.This will only tell you if it is getting spark and only will tell you anything when it wont start.This is where I would start looking.Hope this help's and good luck.Sometime's an intermintent problem can be a bear!

No spark, looks like it may be the ignition module.

Before you replace parts:

Is your 81 a 4-speed or an automatic transmission? Have you tried moving either the gear shift (auto) and check the switch on the clutch pedal ? Also 1981 was the first year with the interupt circuit, I think the relay is in compartment in back of the passagers side, make sure it has good connections too..

When you turn the key on does everything else seem to work ok? and when you turn the key to start does everything go dim or fade away?

These are just a couple of suggestions before you start changing out components

It is an Automatic, and everything seems to be ok when I turn the key. If it is the nuetral swithch, would it still turn over? Thanks, I'll check these first.

Replaced the ignition module. Started right away!!
