I have an 84 that the airbox is beginning to make noise. I am not opposed to replacing it or even deleting it. The car is not in an area that has any emission controls so that would not be a problem. I also like the idea of an environmentally friendly car, it's just that I am not in a position to spend hunderds of dollars on new airbox.

84 airbox :confused where?Air for the 84 comes through the hood channels

The airbox of which I speak is the one that sends air to the exhaust to insure that all fuel is burned as much as possible before leaving the exhust pipe. It attaches to the black just beside the power steering resevior. It is a part of the emission control system and is driven by the serpentine belt.

Yea that's it. Not a bad price. Worth replacing for under $100 bucks.

Thanks
