86 blower control module

Having some really awkward issues with this unit. I've been having a power drain on the vette for a while and after much pulling apart of the car disabiling all the different lights and everything, I managed to find out that when the blower control module is plugged in, the battery dies within a couple of days. Now after reading many posts, people say that when their control module fails, the fan kicks in, even when the car is turned off. but so far, i haven't had this. So how can i actually test the module to see if its this that is broken or something later in the circuit???? Pictures would be great, or any other docs.

Welcome onto the boards there...

Only way to diagnose it RIGHT is with Factory Shop Manual. Get one from eBay uh huh.

There's a user in some of the vette forums username agent86, who has posted in fileserver site (don't know the site name) many FSM schematics for '86. I haven't seen him in this forum tho'...

edit:
Looks like he posted in the other BCM thread that you posted.

It also looks like 2 DIFFERENT problems are being discussed. GM blowers seemed to fail with the brush contacts on the armature. This WON'T kill the battery - it will prevent the fan from coming ON.

For the brush problem, which you apparently DON'T have, you can turn the brushes BACKWARDS in the brush guides, and have a new blower. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE BRUSHES - THERE'S A SPRING BEHIND EACH ONE, AND THEY WILL GO AWAY INTO A PLACE THAT YOU CANNOT FIND THEM, IF THEY SPRING OUT!!!
