My 84 has just about 92k. Since I have had it it has always had a high WOT shift. 1-2 at 5300 and 2-3 at 5100 not sure of 3-4 as I have not tested it cause there really is no place around here to try it. I did have my tranny modified to allow a WOT 3-4 shift. I moved the Detent cable down just a touch and the shifts are now where I think GM planned them at 4800-4900 WOT for 1-2 and 2-3. At this setting the part throttle 1-2 feels right and 2-3 you can still feel but it feels like a slushbox, 3-4 you can hardly tell it has shifted. You have listen carefully. The tach does not climb on shift so I am pretty sure it is not slipping 2-3 or 3-4. I guess my question is Does this sound normal for a stock 84 trans with no shift kit and just the 3-4 WOT shift mod? Any help is greatly appreciated.
