Hello all

Going for the upgrade to the fuel pump....Couple of questions.

Best kit anyone has found...Delphi,racetronix,Delco?

Any other mods I need to do, such as fuel regulator or are they plug and play?

Thanks :w

I do like that it is a complete kit. I know this queston has been asked quite a few times but after thorough searching...all I did was get more confused. Did you need to make any changes as far as fuel regulator? Thanks for any info as I plan on doing this swap asap as I'm ordering the kit tomorrow.

I didnt make any adjustments yet. I understand it runs a little better with 15 psi but I left the stock adjustments and it certainly made a difference at WOT anyway so I'm happy.
I'd buy some new extra fuel hose while waiting for the kit to come since its likely original. The kit has one short hose but there are really 3 that will be accessible so you might as well. There is the one with the sending unit and the 2 topside (feed and return). There of course are the fuel filter ones and well. I just felt better replacing the hoses since the pump has MUCH more pressure to the throttle bodies where its regulated.

84 fuel pump

Thanks for all of the info and I agree with the hose change as no time like the present. Just ordered the kit online and can't wait...will update after install. :beer

Received pump kit from racetronixs, took maybe 2 hours to change fuel lines and change out pump...... "there's the wow factor" it is a night and day difference. Would recommend this change to anyone. Response and idle are much better......:beer

Did you get an 85 fuel pump or is it an84 replacement pump? Was it a big deal to change, any details? Did it come with good instructions?

Nelson,
It MUST be an 85-up pump. The 84 is rated for a lower pressure carb system and is at its max design specs for CFI at WOT...and nothing ever works well at max for long!

Its a fairly str8 forward install and has minimal instructions. So simple I didnt even think to take pictures.
No special tools...just common sense plug and play. Of course, dont forget to relieve the fuel pressure first like changing your filter.

I read on another forum, that you have to cut wires and add the 84 style plug to hook up the wiring. Do you have to with this new kit?
