My 84 has been parked for 2 weeks, last night when I pulled into the driveway I heard a squeaking noise from the left rear wheel. It happens after one complete turn of the wheel. In reverse there is no squeak. Up until last night the car was fine. I'm thinking wheel bearings. Before I start casing ghosts, can anyone provide some input?

Jack the wheel up and see if you can rock the wheel up and down and from side to side. Also, while you had it parked, did you have the E-brake on? The rear wheels have a seperate set of brakes for the emergency brake system and it may have froze in place due to age.

U-joint? I had a squeaking noise a while back.. go over any big pot holes lately?

Fellows, I did not have the emergency brake on and I just replaced the half shaft ujoints last month. I will jack up the car and try rocking the wheel left to right and up and down.
Thank you, I'll keep you posted.

Try jacking up the entire rear so the tires are about two inches off the ground and chock the front tires. Get someone inside the car and put it into gear and let off the brake pedal. Let the tires rotate and get to the rear and see if you can hear where the noise is coming from. I did that and found a ujoint strap was loose after I had replaced my Ujoints two months earlier. Tightened up the strap and back to crusin.

Yup check the straps. Also if you had a bad u-joint it could of been caused by a failing wheel bearing you may not of noticed before. If you can rock the wheel with your hands at 12 and 6 then you have a failed wheel bearing. When these go they nearly ALWAYS will take the outter u-joint with them.

One of the first things, when I bought my '84 was to replace the rear bearings.
Maybe you should do it also?
