Many years ago, a former owner switched the car top from a fiberglass one to an acrylic one. The challenges is that he used a 86-88 style on the 84 car. The steel blocks on the windshield were changed to the 86-88 style. Problem is that I cannot use the 84 fiberglass top without tearing apart the windshield trim area each time.
What I'd like to do is to change the steel mounting blocks back to the 84 style mounting, so I can use either top.
Is it possible to take the later top and convert it to the 84 cone style mounting? Would it be cheaper to sell the acrylic top (in good condition), then buy one with the cone-style mount?
