:confused My 86 has a terrible rapping sound coming from the tank. It has been doing it for quite sometime but only made the noise briefly then would go away, Now it's constant. As soon as the key is turned and the pump runs it starts rapping. You can actually feel the fuel line shaking back and forth like someone is tapping on it with a screwdriver. I have to really work at keeping the engine running. Can I assume it is the pump?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

That would be a Excellent Assumption!!:upthumbs

I know that sounds stupid to ask that but what throws me off is the rapping sound carries all the way up to the engine compartment and continues for about 2-3 seconds after I turn off the key.

Thats because the fuel pump is controlled by a Relay and runs a few seconds after the engine is shut Off!!:upthumbs
