87 neutral safety switch

;helpOk, Help! Besides "very carefully" how do I remove the center console to access the dreaded neutral safety switch for replacement? ALso, is there any adjustments needed after installation?

There just a few screws (something like 4 or 5) to remove and the cover lifts right off. One under the forward ashtray recess and the reset are accessed by lifting the console lid. Pop the shifter button off using a thin screw-driver and there's a 'c' clip that has to be removed.

There's a special tool for removing the clip, but using two pointed end punches (like ice-picks) will work too. Anything that'll allow you to spread apart the clip. Once it's off the knob slips right up and off.

The neutral safety switch will be in plain view. You can test that it working before replacing the cover. Oh, and you'll need to disconnect the light socket and bulb.
