89 will not start please help...

Hi,

Last nite we were driving the car and it ran fine. We went home and killed it for about 20 minutes, and than we went to leave again and the car alarm went off, and than we tried to start it and nothing happens. lights will come on, radio will come on but it will not start... No popping no noise nothing... We tried to push start it and nothing... Can someone plaese help me.... thanks alot...

Welcome to You are exactly where I was when I first found the forum. I hate to be redundant, just replied to Spacegoat on the same subject below for his 86. Mine was the VATS. Read his thread and search for my first posts, there is a ton of info on this subject. It could be something else. Others will be along to help. Good Luck!

Try locking the car and then unlock it with the door key that will reset the alarm. If that doesnt work it could be your ignition key resistor or the car ccm cannot read it.

Yes, it's probably the VATS. Take the key out of the ignition, wait four minutes, and then try it again. This procedure is in the owner's manual.
