I changed out my plugs and plug wires last night. WOW did that make differance in performance and idle. It is a cheap mod and relatively easy to do. The only one that was somewhat difficult was the drivers side furthest rear plug. Its worth checking out.

Hey, I just purchased the +4's and my Taylor 409 wires just arrived. I got the blue ones, a cool contrast against those red covers, I figured. I'm going to put them on today. Been there on that one plug hard to get in there.

At what mileage did you guys opt to change plugs and wires? What was your motivation for doing this? What were the condition of the plugs that you pulled? Seems to me that unless one is making radical engine mods (ie - H/C or blower) that changing out perfectly good wires and plugs is money perhaps not spent in the best way. Just curious.

6900 miles:D

I know its overkill but it added a bit of acceleration and smoothness. Larger diameter plug wires and 4 tip plugs = more spark = more HP.

I also wanted to know how all 8 were working. All 8 plugs were perfect color.

Thanks for the response, dubya. I am interested in knowing this. I just had stainless steel headers installed and the plugs were removed. The folks who did my work indicated that the plugs looked great (at ~ 7000 miles) so they did not recommend changing them at this time. I use only 93 or 94 octane fuel. I'm not sure how much that influences the longevity of spark plugs. I know I had a 1991 Acura Legend (that only saw 92 octane or better), which had new plugs put in at 60K miles. I gave the car to my brother-in-law w/ 195K miles, and it still had those second set of plugs, and ran like a champ. I believe that with the advent of unleaded fuel, electronic ignitions, and fuel injection that spark plugs (unlike the "olden days") can last a very long time, provided the car is running as it should. However, if putting the type of plugs/wires you are using can add some perfromance, then it is a small price to pay. :beer

Gee, I don't even know how many miles I have, I think about +/-13K. My motivation is that I have a bottom feeder, powerducted to a ported throttlebody through a 85mm MAF. I have also have larger fuel injectors, and use a Predator Programmer for the tuning. With all that air and fuel, I was looking for a more complete burn of the fuel air mixture. I installed Taylor 409 10.4mm wires with Bosch Platinum Plus 4's. Took her for a ride this afternoon, and got on it pretty heavy. Smooth as silk cruising, effortless power at any moment, but more explosive when she is decked. I had the exact setup on my 99' FRC and was happy with those results, so why not the Z, I figured for short money.

P.S. The original Delco plugs looked excellent.
