recalls

How does one know if the recall work has already been done? Is there some where to look up the details on this?
i went through this stuff about 11/2 months ago and am still going "round and round" with the a$$ ho--s at gm.
i contacted the local dealership and asked them if certain recalls were ever fixed on my car as i am not the original owner. they gave me a story that their computers only go back 10 years.
then, they contadicted themselves by saying that if a recall repair was not done, it would be in the computer! i told them that
i wanted proof that in fact it was done.
at any rate, i contacted gm by phone and spoke with a lady there. she had indicated that my vin # is listed as to a 1998 vette instead of the 88 which it is!
after about a half an hour which it took to get all that straightened out, she seemed very apprehensive as to getting me or giving me any more information so, i asked for the postal mailing address and name of the president of gm.
i blasted off a straight forward letter asking if a
rear tie rod issue had been repaired under the recall repair. also, since i cannot go to the dealer empty handed and without a repair authorization from gm, i requested that the reply
be in writing. well, some guy from gm called twice and convieniently left no info on my answering machine about my request.
i sent him a letter directly advising him to respond
in writing only and still, he called twice (i have not been home for his calls) with the same results. i have since sent the a$$ho-e president of gm, two certified letters telling him of the runaround i have been getting and again asking for the info on my car and requesting proof that the repair was done. "gm" has signed for the letter (3 weeks ago) and still, i have received no written response.
sorry for the long disertation here, but, frustration has to be deposited somewhere! i wish you luck. keep me/us posted as to how YOU make out!
