This summer I bought a 90 convert with 6 speed. I have noticed that in traffic it tends to run warm. The guage only has a low temp and high temp listed on it so everthing is reletive. Will be taking a 700 mile round trip to KC with it next month and the heat is a bit of a concern. on a 75 mile run on an 80 deg day it also creaps up a bit. I read the threads on how the c4 tends to get crud on the radiator so today I decided to see if I could see the front side of the radiator. I found that the air scoop at the base was bent up almost even with the bottom of the rediator in the middle. Which made the opening between the piece above it quite narrow. Would this be enough to have any great effect on the cooling? Oh yea.. found remains of a mouse nest at the base of the radiator. lol, so will be washing it out and taking a good look with a light and a mirror to check things out in there. Being a new vette owner, this forum is the best thing I could have come across .

I would imagine those two things could have an impact on the cooling of your car. I read somewhere, about analog guages and there accuracy, however at this point the source escapes my memory. My gf has an analog guage in her car, and it always seems to run towards the H side of the guage. This worried me when the temp was fairly cool, and we were running highway speeds, for a short length of time. I read that the guage may not show a true representation of where the temp is in reference to the C or the H. This is hard to explain. I remember that the middle of the two may not actually be the middle temp wise. I guess the guages were made to fit in the dash, opposed to show an accurate representation of your temp. I may be way off of this one, but I did here that before and I believe it was on this forum. So if anyone knows please let me know.

Good luck

Yeah, they tend to run warm. It's the way it was designed because of emissions purposes. You can combat the problem somewhat by using Water Wetter. It's about $6.00 a bottle and I use 2 bottles.

You will find that a LOT of debris collects BETWEEN the radiator and the A/C condenser. Find some way to clean all the stuff that has collected there. Leaves, paper and cigarette butts collect mostly in the bottom left and right corners near the radiator. The cooling area of the radiator isn't that large to begin with so when some of the cooling area is plugged off with debris it does make a big difference.

Thanks for the input. I worked on the airscoop on the bottom . was a little 1 inch x 1/4 in channel under it for a brace and a brace going up to a part of the body up by the bumper. The channel was pretty beat up and the upright brace was bent. I work for a manufacturing company and have lots of equipment I can use so I made a new channel 1inch x1inch x 3/8 inchfrom 16 guage stainless steel. Straightened the upright brace and put things back together, now have a nice opening for air to get into the bottom of the radiator now. I will see if that helps any. looked at the raidator through an opening on the pass. side and it really looked quite clean .
The water wetter really helps ? Where do I get it?
One other thing, anyone else have problems with the accelerator acting like it binds up ?

Water Wetter is available at any auto parts store; it comes in bottles that are light pinkish in color. I think they're about $6.00 or so. I use two bottles, in my opinion, one bottle isn't enough.

You should have the front end raised up, easiest way is Rhino Ramps. Having the front raised prevents the radiator from filling itself up when you drain the coolant from the radiator fill with a baster.

Went for a 100 mile round trip today. wasn't all that warm out but I think my fix on the front helped. Will pick up some of the water wetter on Monday. I asked a friend that runs dirt track stockcar and he also seemed to think it helped some. Every little bit helps.
