Anyone have a diagram of the inner door goodies of the door panel, specifically the right side but either would work. Mine appears to be missing a key essential part which holds the panel to the door at the top by the window. I've been searching for the part online but unsure what it is called. See my panel is pulled away at the top and by peeking at the drivers door, something is definitely missing which attaches to the metal door parts.

Ok bear with me as I talk in mumbo jumbo talk but I hope you're getting the idea of what I'm talking about.

I wish I could help you because I have the same problem on both sides. The passenger side is worse then the drivers side on my 93. I guess I will keep my fingers crossed and watch your post to hopefully get both of us an answer.

Just took a peek t your last post. That is not my problem, both the inner and outer window seals are there on my doors. I am thinking some type of snap type piece is missing that lets the door panel clip to the inner door. I sure hope someone chimes in. I have a 93 convertible and want to rebuild it right.

I don't know if that's the right parts or not. What your describing sounds like mine. I'll have to take a pic this week and post it.

The problem is probably somewhat easier.....

its not a part missing...its a part broken, the panel iteslf.

The top of the door panel "hooks" or hangs on the inner door frame. Yes, there are guides and some small pins that are just reference, not fasteners.
What usually happens to ALL C4 door panels is the top edge cracks, this allows the panel to move away from the door frame and rattles begin, seals pull away from glass...panels move and rattle everytime the door is closed. This is as normal for a C4 as it gets. Door panels are cheap plastic junk that crack. There has been a huge aftermarket door panel business ever since the C4 came out. By 1986 someone figured out that 84s needed new panels.....

If you;re adventurous you can "plastic weld" the breaks/cracks and re-inforce with 1/4" steel wire mesh and repair the panel.Epoxie does not work. Super glue does not work. Fiber glass resin does not work. Contact cement does not work. Only plastic welding will re-bond the cracks.
If you;re ok with the replacement cost, a complete panel with all the seals and small stuff will run close to $400....just saw some on E-Bay new ready to go for a bit less. Bare panels can be had for <$200 but then you have to move all your old trim and seals assuming they are reusable...
You might be able to lift off the top trim strip and run a couple small screws into the panel (and hide them under the trim) to the fiber glass door frame and hold it for a few more weeks/months but that will eventually come apart from door slamming and vibration.

I have a scan of a permanent fix for that problem. If your handy with tools shud be pretty easy.

Utilizes aluminum & rivets. Got it from one of the vette forums. If your interested let me know.

I might have to give that pic a try or at least pull one of the panels off and see how mine look inside. Might be able to get to it tomorrow, thats alot cheaper then a new panel.

Bren,
Search on this web site for: I finally found a fix for loose door panels. Looks like the way to go to me if the ribs on my panels are cracked like his were. Now I just have to find time to get the panels back off so I can give it a try.

Thanks! I gotta pull mine off and see what the issue is.

Looks good. I have to do both doors on my wife's '93 anniversary model. I also read an article about melting mesh into the ribs. I am afrraid I might melt them completly off. I also have to remove a bunch gorrila glue and foil a local shop tried. Thanks again.
