92 Gas Door Emblem

Anyone know for sure if the original '92 gas door emblems were metal or plastic? I have a debate going on as to what originally came on the cars? If you order a new one from GM today, it is plastic. I have been told that the originals were metal? I would appreciate anyone with the correct story or from a verifiable source who can let me know which is correct.

I have a 96 & gave it the "tap test" with my knife blade. Seems like metallic sound. Then I flipped it open & the studs are threaded & have screws on them so I'm pretty sure mine's metal.

If oem was metal in 96 it probably was in 92.

Just put a new Genuine GM one on my Vert. last week. It was metal.

Complete Paint Job with all new Genuine GM Metal... Just to make sure went to the driveway for you to double check their Metal...

I just replaced what I assume to be the original on my '94 (the previous owner hadn't replaced anything else, so I'd be shocked if he had replaced this!) and it was most definitely plastic. The old piece was so brittle that it broke up into about four parts while I was getting it off. Found a replacement on Ebay that fit and looks perfect.

I replaced the original emblem on my '96, and it was definitely plastic! Seems that both plastic and metal may have been used???

I replaced the one on my 91, both the old and new are metal.

Both C4 emblems on my 93 are metal!

The emblems on my '93 are plastic; they look like metal but after I took them off I touched the studs with a soldering iron to make sure and they melted.


Maybe Chevy used both - Someone out ther knows!
