Hello everyone! We just purchased our 93 and have noticed a problem. Our horns are not working.

We are getting power to the right horn, although it doesn't blow.
We are not getting power to the left horn. I cleaned the ground and that didn't help.

When you press the button, or set off the theft-det. system, I hear a clicking in side the cabin.

Also, I did purchase horn relay but I have NO idea where the relay is at.

Where do I go from here...

H E L P
(thanks in advance)

there is one horn relay and the output goes to both horns. remove the good horn and place it on the other side and see if she blows.

dead horns are fairly common on C4.
I have a 93 horn for sale if you need it.

Hey Larryfs - thanks for the reply. Actually neither horn is working but I am getting power to one of the horns (volt tester) and not the other.

Try TC11 from ace hardware spray it in the horn and let it set for about 15 minutes a lot of spray.

You can also use WD40 KEEP HONKING THE HORN AND TRY TO BREAK UP THE RUST INSIDE.

If you hear the clicking noise the relay is ok just the horn is rusted.

If you don't want to replace the horns remove them and WD 40 the inside real good and take a wire and attach it to the plug on the horn where the wire from the car was, take another wire and wrap the wire around the part the bolt to the frame was. attach the wire that came from the car that will be the positive +red part of battery.
that goes to the red part of your battery the other wire goes to the ground or the black or - on your battery, when youi touch the battery it should click or the horn will blow-honk.
if not then adjust the little screw on the side of the horn use a pair of pliers adjust it very slowly out first a 1/4 turn and then back a 1/2 turn and it should sound off.
Hope this helps:upthumbs

Hi Redc4 - thanks for the rusty horn tip. I wish I had known that yesterday prior to purchasing two new horns ::drats::.

I did determine it was the horns as we found the little adjustment screws. We were able to get some sounds squeaking out of them (it sounded terrible) so I just went to a local vette shop and purchased two new horns ($57 ttl) and put them in last night. The new horns are what the dr ordered. Now my husband can feel comfortable as he is driving around in his new toy around :)

Thanks for your help!

Redc4, Yours was an old post, but I did a search on horn. My drivers side quit blowing, and I found your repair. Just want to say thanks for the info. I did what you sugested, and I have duel horns again. Great advice, thanks again.

So there I was minding my own business when my '93's horns just stopped working. Was it because I did a horrible thing and took it out in the rain? Anyway, where is the bloody horn? The relay should be ok as I get a clicking sound. I just need to know where the horn is so I can either do the "screw" fix or buy new ones (geez, I hear the wife already).

Horn location

:D Lift the hood and look in the cavity in front of the tire down low there should be a horn on each side. They are easily accesible from the top with hood open

Thanks for the info, now to get the new ones in the house without any "YOU BOUGHT MORE FOR IT?" stuff.

Gee I thought my wife originated that statement.:v :m :Twist

I sneak out in the middle of the night and dig the stuff out of hiding and put it on. My wife still thinks the antenna, water pump, radiator hose, radio fixed themselves and she never did notice the resonators disappearance.:D

On my 93 vert the right side
horn button worked but not the left- found that on the back side of the button are plastic tabs that come in contact with the relay ( I dont know if this is the correct term for it ) when the button is pushed. The tab had broken off. I purchased a new button from Corvette America For around $15. The buttons pop off carefully with a screwdriver.

You can get a set for $25 at Advance that look exactly like the stockers. The only difference is they are loud as hell. I need the fog horn off the QE II around here.
