Hello...
Have a '94 coupe, in great shape except I need to do some weatherstrip replacement. Last year I did the rear window weatherstrip, and after some tips and advice from here was able to get that done on my own. Although it was good the kids weren't around at the time to hear my opinion of the process...anyway...I really need to replace what has been called the "Front Roof" weatherstrip (Ecklers #A2905). Mid-America calls it the ""Windsheild Header" weatherstrip (#600-140)...OK so here are my questions for the brain-trust....
1. Do I need to spend double the cost and get the GM rubber or are the repros OK to go with?

2. Is this an easy job? I didn't think the rear window weatherstrip was "that" easy....and if so...what are the proper steps, are there some tips to be aware of...bottom line - can the average guy do this in his garage or should I pay to have it done.

3. If this is an easy project, the other rubber to be done (although not a priority as the front) would be the "Rear Roof Panel" weatherstrip (Ecklers #A2906) or "Top Panel, Rear" weatherstrip (Mid-America #600-122). The same questions apply to this possible project.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully help with info....

You know the weather is changing when it's colder outside and you start thinking of a few "winter" fixes.....

Thought I would try and attach a pic...after all half the fun of this site is to share and show.... :CAC

Is that a real copper metallic 1 of 116 ???

Nice car ;)

I'd like to help you with your WS question, but I only did my rear hatch, as you did, and my door WS.

I'm actually put off doing the front and rear roof because of the same questions you are asking.

If I do it, I will be buying the more expensive, from what I understand, you get what you pay for with weatherstripping.
Anyway :beer

Weatherstrip Follow-Up

Hey there,
Thought I would send a note back....I did just finish replacing the front roof weatherstrip myself...and I wanted to tell you it was really not a big deal to do. I did spend and get the GM replacement instead of the repro and it fit like a glove...worth the extra $$. The hardest part, that took the longest and made the biggest mess was getting all of the old adhesive off and cleaning the "guides down to the metal. Once that was done it was a piece of cake. It looks great, fits great and the top fit is just fine. In fact there are no more small rattles to listen to....a very tight fit. Not sure if I would do my rear roof weatherstrip as it looks a bit more difficult and that is still in pretty good shape anyway. But I would say to go ahead and do the work on this one, don't let your doubts get in the way.

and yeah....it is '94 copper metalic. Thanks for the wave!!!

Smart move - I had my old 92 weather striping replaced replaced a year ago and the first try was with non-GM stuff - didn't fit and didn't seal. Replaced that with the original GM stuff and it worked perfectly.
