What temperature does the short mark in the very center of the temperature guage represent? It's in the middle between the temps. 185 & 260 on the'94LT1. Thanks

The analog gauges in late C4s are so inaccurate to be near useless. In fact, on the last few model years there was a disclaimer in the owners manual.

The best thing to do is call the coolant temp up on the digital display then look at the analog gauge and note where the needle is.

Or...drive the car until the temp needle is centered then read the digital.

I don't understand? I'm guessing that that center hash mark would
represent 200 degrees + or —? My needle hovers in this area. Just
curious. Thanks

As I said above the analog gauges in a late C4 are quite inaccurate. I never pay attention to the coolant temp gauge. I use the "gauges" button and put the coolant temp on the digital display. I don't know what the center hash mark means.

You can find out by driving the car until the coolant temp reaches normal, looking at that hash mark then enabling the digital display. What ever the digital display says is the temp at that hash mark.

Also, if your digital display doesn't work, as long as your cooling system is operating properly, if your nominal coolant temp is always around that hash mark, you could just call that mark "normal" rather than associating it with a particlar temperature.

As Hib says, the gauge is not accurate. On my 94 vert, during the hot summers, I would worry about the temp gauge showing hi temps. When I used the DIC digital readout, I was less worried as it displayed an accurate value. I would then turn on the auxiliary fan with my manual switch (could have turned on the A/C also to activate the fan) when the temp reached 120 degrees and watch the temperature drop rapidly.

The digital temp is taken from the Waterpump and the analog is taken from the block and it is not inaccurate, the line you are taking about is the normal temp line and shows when the car reaches 190 degrees, it might be 195 degrees, well it is one of the 2.
