when cold, my 95 auto trans shifter release button is very hard to push in and get vehicle out of park. Once the button is able to be pushed in the shifter move fine. When looking at diagram in a chilton manual, I don't see any solenoids or relay, only cables. That led me to believe the concern is mechanical. Anyone ever experience this?
Thanks

Yeah, I did last year about this time (could be something to do with the onset of winter). It turned out to be the Bitsi solinoid. At least that is what the dealer wrote down. Don't ask me what the heck that is though. Good luck!

I checked with dealer, the btsi solenoid (brake transmission shift interupt solenoid) locks out the shift release button until ignition is in run and brake pedal depressed. The parts guy says that the solenoid is only available with the shifter, but the gm shop manual gives instructions to replace solenoid by itself. Did your repair order say just the solenoid by itself and if so what was the part number?

I replaced a few of them when at Chevrolet. The solenoid is available seperately. The only trick is alligning it properly (no trick if your experienced or have a shop manual) Its called a BTSI- brake transmission switch interlock. It will cause the problem you are having intermittently till it it fails 100 %. Hope this helps
