95 radio question

While this radio is in my 95, the question is pretty general and would apply to most any radio.
The back lighting for my display is provided by 3 little bulbs that are about 1/8" tall and 1/8" in dia. 2 are burned out making the display dark on one side. They are soldered on to a pc board, they don't plug in. Does anyone know where I can locate this kind of bulb. I've already tried Radio Shack, and they don't have anything close. If I take the radio in, they'll just charge me for a refurbished radio for a zillion dollars. This isn't something that I must have, it would just be nice to have.

Any help is certainly appreciated.

Hi alan,

I just had my bulbs replaced in my 1996 Collectors Edition radio. I took the radio fully disassembled to a shop in Va Beach.
They only charged me $25 dollars to replace all the bulbs.
I can call and ask the shop technican where to find the bulbs for your radio. I will post it ASAP.

Sounds great to me. Maybe he knows of a shop on the west coast in the L.A. area that does the same thing. However, knowing what the # is on these bulbs would certainly help. (they're small little bastards)

Radio bulbs

There's an earlier post (search) that listed the bulb number. The author got it at radio shack. Radio shack stores vary a lot. If you've got the number, they can order it but may not know it.

Some of the respondents may know the bulb type. Seems they got them at a Radio Shack in FL
