We recently purchased a 98 C5. My wife, the primary driver, had the gauges go crazy and the motor cut out 3-4 X. 1st two x's,we let it sit over night & drove it home. The dealer replaced battery and said good to go. (ya right) 50 some miles, it starts again. This time it happens, she waits 4-5 min and it may start, barely. Like it wants gas? Runs rough aprox 0.5 mi and gauges flip, motor dies. I drove 25 mi after it sat 1 week. Ran fine. Dealer now says there are no error codes and it road tests fine. We both know it will happen again! Any suggestions as what the dealer can not find? Thanks for any thoughts. jcaxe@yahoo.com(miss'in the C4)

my first thought that comes to mind is alternator, but it wouldn't start again. idk some one with answers will come soon

Describe "gauges are flipping"

Are all the gauges reseting like as if you just started the car or?...

If they are I would say you have either a computer problem (yet no codes) OR an ignition problem.

What might be happening is the ignition is reseting...Hmm I wonder if the alarm is shorting out and reseting the car and cutting off the ignition...

Someone else could help you more Im sure Ive yet to tear apart a C5...

At least theres some ideas on the table.

Sounds like the alternator is not charging as you drive!!
