HI, I am looking at a 1998 corvette to purchase. This vehicle is a second owner with 109k miles. I am going to get a carfax... Are the any obvious issues with the 98 that I should be looking for? It is an automatic convertible. The owner has had new brakes, rotors and michlen run fat tires installled at 107K. The is an arizona car. has new top as well. I will be going down to look at it on Monday. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you, vinny

I,ve had my 98 for 5 years and had no problems. got almost 60,000 on it and only bought tires & oil changes. I get between 25 & 30 mph if I keep my foot out of it. My worst tank was around 21 ( alot of playing ). Love the car. Have a blast Tim

I purchased my '98 vert in march of '08. Other than the "rocking seats", I've really enjoyed it. Good luck.

98s are cool

I bought my 98 Torch red coupe in February of this year with 87,000 miles on it and it is solid as a rock with a steady 21-23 mpg running my errands. Be sure to turn on all accessories, lights, wipers and such it's easy to forget that stuff when you are enthusiastic about a purchase.
Good luck and enjoy.

Keep 'em rollin' :W

Hello, it's probably too late now, but I just bought a 98 with 125k miles a little over a month ago. Being an automatic I would suggest going 90+ at WOT. I bought my car and in the test drive everything seemed fine, until one day I went on the interstate and was going to pass a car and found the car will not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at WOT. It goes right to the rev limiter, doesnt even attempt to shift. It's been a little more than a month and I have yet to figure out what it is.:confused

The 98 sounds awesome! Those are rock solid Vettes! Nothing in particular comes to mind as far as trouble spots.

Buy it and enjoy it! :upthumbs

WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING YOUR NEW C5, PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO SAVE THE :w!
