My A/C compressor fried itself a while ago.
I've seen ads for replacements with the brand name "Factory Air".
Anyone with opinions on them, or other alternatives to spending $650 + for a
Nipposendo replacement ?
TIA

Factory Air is the "generic" chain store brand. Used one in a mini van that's worked well. There's a joint on Ebay that sells new Delco units at reasonable cost. If I think of the name of it I'll pass it on. It was somewhere down South I remember....

I bought my last Nippondenso 10pa20c on ebay, it was a rebuild, and it has performed flawlessly for two years now. At first there was a little oil coming from the shaft seal, but after much research I have come to the conclusion that this is normal, as the new carbon seal seats with compressor usage. My high pressure is the same as it was two years ago. I think I paid around $200, compressor only, but you can reuse your compressor clutch if the bearing is okay.

Google or ebay fot the compressor. new ones with a clutch are $400+- with rebuilt $250. I scored a used one for $200.

I bought a rebuilt last fall from Advance Auto. It is a reman., by Four Seasons.

It cost me $152 complete with clutch, and so far so good. Mine is an 85; are we talking about the same compressor? If so, I'm REAL happy with the price!
