I have recently purchased a 1973 Corvette with a 350 engine. The car came with no A/C compressor. What recommendations are there in regards to installing A/C. It does not really matter to me if the part is original or not, and it might even be better to install new technology. I'd be interested in any help I can get as this is my first Corvette (I come from Javelin AMX background). Many thanks in advance.

just a suggestion if you do not care about originality and care about a bit of efficiency. check out vintage air (the company's name) on the web. they make several great setups for small block chevy engines (and are a particular favorite among the street rod crowd). i don't have a link or anything like that, but you should find them easily with a google search or by visiting a site like this one (it is in my area and i am familiar with their work, but this is for reference purposes only): www.littlejoesrodshop.com or try "cruisin style magazine" on line, they may have some advertising on their site. i'm also sure that www.streetrodding.com probably has some advertising on their site that might be of help, and of course www.hemmingsmotornews.com should have some advertisers of "add on" a/c units.

hope some of that helps you out and heads you in the right direction.

Does the car have factory A/C and the compressor is missing, or is it a non-A/C car you'd like to add A/C to?

the interior of the car has all of the components for an a/c (at least as far as i can tell). one of the previous owners rebuilt the engine and compartment in 1988. there is no sign of a previous compressor there now.
