Just forward of where the lines pass through the box on the front of the firewall, where the fill port is, there is a small electrical gizmo with two wires. What is it?

It, and the compressor clutch, were disconnected on my car. I'm trying to make sure they weren't disconnected for a reason, before I re-connect them. Don't want to damage anything.

If it's in the metal a/c line then it's a pressure switch.

Maybe a low pressure shut off. I won't swear to the details off the top of my head but somewhere around 15 psi it makes a contact that allows the a/c to work. The factory service manual has a pretty good description.

I managed to get a picture. Looks like it's on the discharge line.

If it is the high pressure switch, is there any risk of damage if I re-connect it and try to run the A/C?
