Hi gang. Was shootin' the bull at the garage with my Egyptian mechanic prodigy Rashed when I brought up the weather. He asked how my air conditioner was working and answered fine. Ever charge it? No.

Well it's the only thing on the damn car that hasn't been done in the 2 years I've owned it and it ain't broke so why fix it?

Oil he said. OK you had me at hello. I thought it worked well before. It was down .75 pounds on the 2 pound charge. Now it's absurdly cold to the point where full steam is uncomfortable. Can it get any better? Old vettes rule.

Cheers

:L My neighbor just recharged his old '93 Buick's A/C. The only reason he did it was because he had nothing else better to do!:L:L:L He still has the original windshield wipers on that car!

I mean, who needs A/C when you can just open the windows?:L

ME! 112+ degrees yesterday here in Phx. "It doesn't feel like it though, it's a dry heat".......MY A$$!!!!!!!!! :L

Mine is from Mesa, Az. and sighs 'Thank You' for saving it from the surface of the sun. The electonics were well preserved in the dry heat.

You have no fear with a black car in that temp. I bet your ac works real good, man. Mine is manual. Yes I have to actually fiddle with it but the air comes out when, where and how I want it! And now its butt-freezin' cold. It's worth a check up especially on Mercury where you live.

Side story whilst here: Hauled my brother to see pop in Heaven's Waiting Room (good name for an old-folks home) Sunday and blew his wig off. Haven't heard him giggle like that in years.

Mine was originally from Texas so it's used to this @#$! :L
I have the manual a/c as well...works pretty well, especially since I tinted the windows & bought the sunliner. Last year was rough, to say the least, but this year I'm more prepared.

I'm a windows down, top off & no a/c kinda guy, but in the summer here...that ain't happenin'!

"Heaven's Waiting Room"....I like that. :)

Heaven's waiting room? I thought you were referring to a hospice!:cry

If you have a relative in a nursing home you know what I mean! The upside is you come out the door ready to live at the redline. Not exactly on the subject of A/C.

Noticed the compressor cycles more often keeping the temp at the accumulator over 33*. Before the compressor just stayed on most of the time. What a smart car.

Reviewed the Helms Manual on the system and about an hour and a half later remain amazed that anything on the car works at all with the complexity of the electricals. The auto A/C is comparable to launching a satellite. The air bag is 15 pages of schematics. A one-off with this array of systems would cost 5 million dollars.
