a differential poser

hello all, i need to access the rea cover on my diff. i am looking for the easiest way to do that. i want to do it with the least amount of parts removed.
the tire carrier will be removed; let's start from there.

dann, i think one of the C clips on the output shaft is missing. i am going to remove the drive shaft to confirm.
however, i can't see a lot of risk with the clip missing since the shaft does a good job of capturing the yoke from moving outward..

I wanted to replace the gasket but decided against it when I realized that I had tio drop the diff to do it. A seeping leak, no drips and no need to add, that I hope to make go away by re-torquing the bolts.

bobchad, i know what you mean. sometimes the problem is less than the effort to repair it. i have overlooked many a small peckadillo ,knowing i would hate myself once i started tearing into it.

Exactly right Robin. If I dropped that differential I would have to rebuild it. And from there it would look like 67Heaven's project.
