This is a shot of the car on the outside set of ramps that I use alot for working on the undercarriage. They are 16 inch I beams layed on the side. Plenty strong and impossible to miss while driving on.

Hey nice job on those coil overs

great idea on the ramp too...

First, I like the coil overs. I've thought about doing the same thing front and rear, but haven't found any information on what parts are needed or where to get them. I'd like to see and hear more about what you had to do and what parts you used.

Second, Neat ramps! That a great idea. You have me thinking now on how I can do something like that.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and great ideas.

Gary

To do a good job on installing coilovers takes alot of cutting/welding/fabricating. There is no way to just bolt a set in. Some are going semi coilovers but they are still using the stock spring pocket for the top and setting the spring above the lower spring pockets. I totally cut out the lower and upper spring pockets, plated over both for rigidity and make new mounts top and bottom. I can quickly drop the shocks/springs throught the bottom opening of the A arm.
I shocks run my about $730 with a set of springs, and you only need 5 inches of travel in the shock to get 7 inches of wheel travel. I am using 350 pound springs in the front and 250 in the back.
Stock or any replacement sway bar links are junk, they run into bind long before the wheel runs out of travel. Look at any old sway bar link and you will find the little donuts squished/deformed. This is because a link like that doesn't work.
The only thing that works in the heim joint ends. They give you full travel without ever running into bind.
As for the rams anyone with a retaining way could get a set of used I beams and pieces of pipe, sona tubing and a little cement and make a nice set of heavy duty ramps.
Sure makes working under the car easy.
