A thought on the GearVendors over/underdrive

Has anyone looked into mounting something like this in front of the differential, rather than behind the transmission?

From my perspective that offers a few advantages:

Less torque on the driveshaft.
Better weight balance, considering the front-engine, rear-drive layout of the 'Vette.
Might have more clearance (haven't been under the car in a while, but isn't there more clearance farther back, rather than at the tail end of the tranny tunnel?)

Just a thought. I'm not even sure if it's practical.

Redmist here at CAC did that with his 79 (it may be a 78). He had to do some mods to the tunnel and driveshaft. He is happy with the results.
