Got the '88 C4 in January. 20K on the clock. So replacing the tires was a nobrainer. Dry rot. Then the water pump had to be replaced. Leaked. At this point the hoses might have been ok but with all the front end stuff off...they got replaced too. My question is what about the ignition wires? They look good are flexable no signs of burn through, and performance seems to be ok. Keep or replace? If they have to be replaced it looks as though the AC unit will have to be removed. Don't want to do that. Final question, loud droan at low speed and in lower gears. Seems to go away at highway speeds. Is this normal with stock mufflers or could a prior owner have replaced them?

I really cannot say what time would do to the plug wires. I change mine every two years, but I use the car. It is not hard to change them. I personally have never removed anything from the engine to change the plug wires. I suspect if you get a set that will fit your application, it will take an hour.

I'd attribute the drone to the tires, but of course check the fluids in the tranny & rear gear. Manual???

droan

I have cat back flowmasters on mine. Any gear, about 1600/1800 rpm, those babys are making such a resonating noise! Other than than, they are great. You may need to know if they are factory or not. I hear factory dont make noises inside, but they dont sound as good as flowmasters either. the more rpm's, the better they sound.:lou
