I am going to have my brake fluid changed. The speciality shop I am going to take it to says they flush the whole system to get every bit of fluid out and flush the ABS system clean, rather than the normal dealer simply draining the fluid. However, another shop told me that is a bad idea, and that you are asking for trouble flushing out the ABS system. Any comments or advice you can give me would be appreciated. I do not want to hose up the uber expensive ABS pump which went on my VW and cost $1800 for the part alone.

Thanks.

I'm a little confused, here.
Are we discussing flushing the brakes on a Corvette or a VW?

Im referring to my vette, and making an example of what I went through with my VW.

First off, welcome to CAC.

Secondly, there's no need to crosspost across several forums with the same question.

Now... the fluid can be flushed out of the brake system safely by any competent shop with a scanner that will command the EHCU to perform an internal self-test (Tech1 or TechII factory tool). The best bet is to vacuum bleed at each corner of the car and do the aformentioned slef-test of the ABS system. This ISN'T a job for "Bubba", but it's not rocket science either.
