AC/Heater controls in the 82 ever illuminate?

Does anyone know if the AC/Heater controls in the 82 ever illuminate it's really hard to see controls when night driving! Thank you for your time and response...

Above the air vents is a little plastic piece in the middle, above the AC controls. On top of the gauge cluster should be a bulb that should (in theorie) illuminate the AC controls. On mine the bulb works but I don't think the light reaches the AC controls (or my Pioneer radio is to bright).

On the 77 it was a special light that concentrated the beam.

The light that you speak of works but it really sucks! I guess I will do some red necking behind the controls with some of the leds from pep boy's! Thanks!

The correct bulb has a magnifier on the bulb end to intensify the light down to the controls. As I recall the bulb number is 1445... any Corvette Shop carries them or check the after market parts distributors..

Yoda thanks I will look into that and see if the correct bulb is in before I go rigging some unneeded items.
