I have a 92 Corvette that I just recently replaced and air conditioning line on. I'm going to fill it with new refrigerant and as I'm feeling it the gauge is showing nearly a hundred PSI. I know that's pretty damn High and I think it's supposed to be around 45 PSI. I have about 1 pound into the system and stopped should I keep adding 2 more pounds to it even though it's reading 100 PSI? What would be causing it to be so high? Thanks for your help

You should have taken it to a garage to evacuate the system first!

Once you opened up the system to atmosphere the decicant in you receiver/dryer started to absorb moisture. If the system was empty for a long period of time you need to replace it (dryer).
When they evacuate the system (put it in vacuum) any moisture boils off

Unfortunately the dryer was open for sometime before I was able to get the new line hooked up. You think that's definitely the issue here?

Thanks for your help

Its going to be!
The age of the car and the fact that it was open are good reasons to replace it.

I would replace it as close to your appointment as possible to get the system evacuated.

The next thing is how much oil to add, the receiver accumulates oil so when you remove it you also remove that oil.

Hopefully someone will chime in with their thoughts on how much that is!

Pressures are controlled by system operation.

We use them to determine proper operation

R134A does run at a higher pressure and if it gets to high there is a high pressure relief built into the compressor

are you sure compressor is running? You should pump it into a vacuum then charge with proper refrigerant and the proper amount that is on the tag.
