AC Reassembly?

As I explained in my wiring harness post I'm cleaning up the engine bay right now on my 71. Part of the process was complete removal of the AC from condenser, drier, hoses, muffler, valve, and coil. Everything is now out. All the hoses are in good shape. Some were leaking and I can tell that the O rings were bad. I'm going to order new rings from Doc Rebuild for reassembly.

My question is there anything I need to do before I put it all back together. I had the system evacuated prior to working on it but there was still some green fluid in the system. I'm assuming this is oil of some sort. Do I need to put this fluid back into the system as I reassemble or just put everything back together and bring it in to be recharged? Is there something I need to tell the shop to make sure they do it right.

BTW the system was converted to the R134a by the shop I bought it from. All the parts are compatible with the R134a (I suspects some of the O rings that were on the system were not converted previously but I'll take care of that now).

Thanks in advance. Any hints on reassembly would be great as well.

I'm in the process of restoring my 75 convertible. I rebuilt the entire AC system with the advice, instructions and directions of the folks at this website http://acsource.net/acforum/index.php. Most of the guys are really helpful and straighforward. I cross checked their information and it all turned out to be reliable. A couple of them will give you their personal email addresses and offer to answer any questions.

I highly recommend them!

P.S. I get nothing from them and I'm not affilated with the site. I just like to share good contacts I have.
