I have a 71 coupe that does not open the heater box door when you rotate the control wheel to the heat position. I was wondering can you feel or see the door that opens under vacuum to check and see if it works properly? My heater hoses are hot going into and out of the heater core but no hot air is coming out......I am suspect that the vacuum door is not opening (no Vacuum) but do not know exactly where or how to observe the door to check it? Can anyone help me ? thanks Larry lstill@aol.com

make sure the valve that controls the flow of coolant thru the heater is working, the hoses will be hot from engine heat, it takes coolant flow through the heater core to heat the air that you feel.

also check your coolant level, too low and there will not be any flow thru the heater core
good luck

Get an AIM manual, it will show the entire setup so you know where things are located.
