Is there a location on the forum which has a acronym listing? I have to admit sometimes other people's posts have acronym's associated with them and it makes for some wonderment as to what they stand for, examples, "FRC," "ZR1," "Z06."

I did not know where to post this thread so I put it here. I will ask, as I am sure there are others who from time to time have the same question(s).

Thanks

That's a good idea. Several years ago I remember seeing a list of "terms" somewhere (maybe in the Education center) but I can't find it now.

It took me several months to recognize some of the acronyms and terms that are tossed around.

I can answer those, at least.

The ZR1 was a special model of Corvette produced from 1990 to 1995, I believe. Most Corvette engines are single cam shaft engines using conventional pushrods and rocker arms to actuate the valves. The ZR1 was an overhead cam engine with tremendous power output. It was designated LT5, while the standard engine was the LT1. They were quite expensive, costing about twice as much as a standard C4 Corvette.

The FRC is short for fixed roof coupe. It was made in 1999 and 2000. It was originally intended to be a lower cost, race oriented Corvette. They turned out to cost almost as much as the regular targa top Corvette and did not sell all that well. In 2000, the FRC became the Z06. The Z06 is still a fixed roof coupe, but it has additional race oriented content. It has a higher output engine (LS6, rather than LS1), etc. The Z06 name pays homage to another race ready Corvette from about 1963. The Z06 of the early 1960's was intended to be a car that could be purchased from the dealer and easily prepared to use for track racing.

I hope that this helps a little.

Thanks Tammy and DRTH VTR

I know the cliche' about opinions, and as far as I am concerned I would not mind seeing an acroynm listing somehwere. (see cliche' above or to the left ever which way this posts displays) I am not talking about all of the acroynms in the world, but at least a listing of the most common ones typically encountered on the boards here.

DRTH VTR had some good answers, but I have to admit and question, how, "I" could have left off "DSOM?":L

start it up!

I also think that it is good idea as I sometimes wonder what an acronym means. Not sure exactly how to start one, but here is one...

A4 - Four Speed Automatic transmission

A bit more then was asked but I thought we could use also use it here.

That's a good list, Kid. Pretty much covers it :D

Oh yeah, how about SWC - Split Window Coupe

Tammy

OK, I'll throw in a couple:

ABS - Anti Lock Braking System
BCM - Body Control Module
DTC - Diagnostic Trouble Code
ESC - Electronic Suspension Control

and one I'm not sure of, has to do with air bags SIR - ?? Inflatable Restraints

Well the kid's list

Is pretty exhaustive, I was primarily interested in a more Corvette automotive venue, not so much one which includes the electronic messaging shortcuts.

ABS - Anti Lock Braking System
BCM - Body Control Module
DTC - Diagnostic Trouble Code
ESC - Electronic Suspension Control
DSOM is a C6 color choice - Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.

So that when reading a thread and someone states I think I am having a BCM isssue... I can go and look it up, or even maybe when reading a thread, I can keep two browser windows open, one to the forum's (thread) and one to the acronym listing page.

And since a certain member has been going on about some color, and
Espousing the virtues of some color?? (Is this where the term exaggeration, or flights of fancy should be used) What was that color he was proclaiming as being number one. Dang, what was that color again. How could I have forgotten another much needed acronym;

So, add this to the acronym list as the true and rightful number one color. ;):D

MY - Millennium Yellow
