My vette came with the painted fiberglass tops. I would like to buy a set of glass tops just for enjoying the view on the semi-nice days when it's not quite nice enough to go without. I've shopped around a little and found the acrylic tops are substantially cheaper. I also like the fact they are not as prone to cracks. But, I'm afraid they might be too easily scratched. I'd really like to find some original glass tops on ebay, but haven't had much luck winning the auctions, or they end up going for more than I want to spend. What are your opinions - glass or acrylic? Why? Does anyone out there own the acrylic ones? If so, how do you like them? Thanks.

Personally I like painted !
When I bought my car it had the clear top.
Nice in theory but with a car that is 80% glass and then you make the roof glass it gets REALLY hot when the sun bakes down on you. Even with AC on it is hot.
That's why I went to ebay and bought the solid top.
But that is just my preference.
Plus I have a 94 so it isn't a direct comparison.
Good luck in your decision

I tried the Astro Top a few years back. I thought it was a hokey design and fastened poorly in the back with the block adjustments and did not seal good around the door glass. I did like the extra head room , visibility, and tint. They use plastic stips inside the weatherstripping and youre supposed to be able to adjust the plastic pieces ; a totally poor design. When i phoned down there to complain about these...the Shop Foreman said (and i quote)...: " Hell, use a pair of panties if you have to , to make em work !" . Not the answer i expected a manufacturer to say about thier product.
