How accurate is the weight figure listed on a vehicle registration? I thought coupes were about the same poundage as verts? In most cars, if there's a coupe and convertible version, the vert weighs a little more due to added components for structural rigidity, correct? Well, being that the C5 was designed to be a vert initially, I wondered if the weight was about the same for both. I just thought that the coupe might be a little heavier because of the huge back glass. On my registration my vehicle weight is 3142 lbs. Could that be correct? My car is stripped down for speed (i.e. basic group for '01). The only options that I have are F45 suspension, high-polished AL wheels and side body moldings so I assumed it could be correct. Does DMV get that weight direct from the factory or is that just a figure given to all Corvette coupes? Just wondering.......

Visit your local truck stop near an Interstate. Ask them to weigh it on their CAT scales.

Thanks. I thought about doing that but didn't know if they would or not.....I guess it's worth a try.

You can also check a local garbage dump / recycle collection center. They also have accurate scales.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try to do that today since I already have her pulled out. Thanks again.:w

I ordered a '02 coupe, every option BUT side moulding and front license frame. Weighed the car with practically zero fuel and no one sitting in it. It weighed 3400 lbs even certified.
