Looking for some info on extracting oil [thru dipstick tube?] after track session if one follows the General's video advice and adds a qt to compensate for G-load starvation.
Thanks much...

Wouldn't it be easier to just use the drain plug?

Thanks...I know that's an option, but I'm looking for something that works from the top. Figured I'd hear about what's "out there"

If you insist on adding oil to OVERFILL the crankcase,( when you overfill it,it will cause airation of the oil,VERY BAD) I believe its NAPA that has a kit to remove oil from the dipstick tube. I was not aware of any oiling problems with the Z06,Please keep me posted as to this problem!!! Thanks Paul:w

Yeah, I know --- overfilling sounds counter-intuitive...but that's what the General's video that comes with the Z06 says to do if one goes serious racing with high sustained G-loads ... that might starve out the oil pump. Goes on to say to return to normal oil level after the track session... honestly, I don't think I'll get the car in that kind of side-load situation this year ... but I'm just looking ahead!

I've heard this advice, as well. Also, I have heard about not overfilling the oil pan, etc., yet over the years lots of service people have told me that going about a qt. over doesn't hurt at all notwithstanding all the doomsday scenarios, and, in fact, helps reduce oil temperature. Also, in many cases (as in my '81), you will see the owners' manual recommend putting in 5 qts. when you change the oil filter. However, even if you use the long filter, you will still end up with about 2/3rds of a qt. above the fill line. Perhaps it's all different with the ZO6, but this seems to be very contradictory. Someone should ask GM to design a proper oil pan with baffles. trap doors etc. to begin with so this isn't even an issue at all.

heres an idea. Take an empty quart of oil. Loosen the drain plug until it starts to drain slightly. Let it drain into the quart that way you know you only took a quart out. =)

This is a great question. I was wondering the same thing as I will be doing some track events this year. After searching many forums and reading many posts, the consensus is to add the extra quart as GM recommends for road racing events and then drain when you get home. Many racers, that have done this, have told me that driving home with the extra oil will NOT hurt the engine.

It is true you need to add a quart for track events and it will not hurt to drive it with the extra quart under normal street conditions. I change the oil after a track event and refill to normal level.

you need the xtra quart because going thru the corners the "G" forces hold the oil up in the rocker cover not allowing it to return to the pan. if you want to remove the extra oil thru the dip stick tube go to the auto parts and get a suction gun that you can install a piece of tubing that will fit into the dip stick tube.
