Adding to the C5 Alarm

I am looking to add a proximity detector to my 2000 convertable. I would like to add it to the existing system along with a siren.

I had a shock and proximity sesor (Alpine) on my last convertable and it worked great, I just don't see the point of disabling the stock systems to put on an aftermarket.

Anyone out there with any experience/knowledge of this type of upgrade?

Yes, you can add a proximity sensor to the existing system. I did several years ago, but disconnected it because I could never get it adjusted right. Moving trees would set it off. I disconnecte since I am never far from my car and only in good areas. Anyway I think it is the ninth pin on the plug on the bcm under the passenget foot well. It is the trigger wire that connects there. I will look for some more detailed info. if you need more info.
