I was reading some GM literature last night which said that you cannot get the Z06 with a tilt/telescoping wheel. Is this true? If it is, could someone tell me why you cannot get this feature?

Thanks,

The Z06 is intended to be a performance oriented vehicle with very limited options. The options add weight and expense. I believe Dave Hill said that the Z06 was for the extreme performance enthusiast. If you want the luxury goodies, the regular C5 is plenty studly for just about anyone.

Thanks, but I am not sure this explanation really works---after all, aren't air conditioning and the fancy radios and heads-up display available? Most racers I have talked to emphasize the importance of the car fitting the driver, which means things like making sure the seat fits you, the pedals can easily be reached etc. In this context, the position of the steering wheel is important to feeling comfortable and fully in control behind the wheel. If this explanation is correct it seems to be weird logic on GM's part.

The Z06 wheel does tilt, but is not the electronically telescoping type. I suppose it's another one of those weight reduction things. Between the seat adjustment, and the tilt wheel, I think 99.9% of the Z06 drivers have no problems getting things adjusted to their build. Check out the Z06vette.com site, there are several owners over there tracking their Z06. See if they have any recommendations or adjustment hints to solve any fitting issues you might encounter.

PS: nice last name, same as mine
