One of the advantages of non-matching engine, parts and paint (base coat clear coat)... Is the reaction when I pulled in at the Local Boys and Girls Clubs by the kids at their annual summer car wash (to make money for the Club).. I know this is not a Corvette Club but the members were very inviting.. the members seems to enjoy my car as is..not a word was said about my wheels..(other then they were dirty):)
Wish I had my camera as I pulled up and all the kids jaws dropped..
Funny part was that I was 5th in Line but seemed to finish before all the other cars... as every car only had 1 member that was suppose to wash that car.. When I pulled in all the other kids left their respective cars and all helped my liittle washer.. Other car owners seemed to take it in stride and just laughed

Forgot to mention my other favorite Summer pastime (beside the kids car washes) is driving around looking for lemonade stands in my neighborhood... I think it's almost un-american to pass these kids on the corner with their 25 cent lemonade stand signs... in one of these cars.. the kids reaction..is worth the price of admission

You've probably inspired a whole new generation of Vette lovers!! Good for you!!

Did you make the kids remove any belts, watches, or loose jewelry first? You are a good man Newbe. Just make sure the kids don't overcharge you for your lemonade when they see your car.

That is a great idea. I'm doing it. :beer

This is an excellent thread.

you opening up a lemonade stand Bob?
that's going to be a LOT of lemonade to recoup the cost of rebuilding your car
:L

Now if you are going to do it... there needs to be someone to go ahead of you and hand out ear plugs before you drive up and to warn the kids not to be scared :L. And Burnouts must be supervised by parents as well (espically the dad's):D

Yeah that'll be cool to see... Bob buying lemonade and paying the parents for ear drum damage to the kids.....;LOL

Bob will be selling Molson Export (moose pee to us CruiseFest Veterans). He left a few with me for safe keeping until next year. Maybe I should set up a stand in my driveway and sell them back to him. :L

The car washes are fun. I had the Dare kids wash my semi tractor once when my son was in school. They spent a lot of time on that thing but loved it. I did all of the high up chrome so nobody would fall. It was a lot of fun for everyone.

I hope you left a good tip Tom;). I imagine it would take some time for kids to wash and dry a semi. At least you didn't say Tractor & Trailer :ugh. The kids probably would have told you to take a hike or pay some big $$$ :L

Some picture advice for carwash/lemonade stands

I always check my local paper to see where the local car washes are..high schools, boy scouts, fire department, boys and girls club etc etc(go even if you just washed it)

Bring a camera in your car. and have the camera READY .THE BEST SHOT.. is the shot when you pull up and roar the engine, and shoot when all the kids have their jaws drop.. so have the camera out and ready when you pull in.

shots of the kids all running over from the cars they were working on filled with suds are great as well

If you have a digital camera i love to send the kids a picture via e-mail .so another great shot is to have the kid(s) who washed it sit in the drivers seat and take his/her picture and e-mail it to them so they can show their dad or mom or friends when they get home. I give a lot of credit to the kids who take time on their weekends to work for free for a good cause (while some of their friends would rather do other things).. At least this way with your picture they have somthing to show their friends who did not particpate what a great time they missed. Who knows maybe the kid who did not want to help out will come and wash cars next time hoping you'll pull in. Or maybe i'm just an idealist..

As for the lemonade stands they are a little tougher to find.. but usually in the same spots and fun to cruise around just trying to find them..camera's ready here as well as the kids love to scream and point as you pull in with a roar of the engine and their faces are classics.
It always amazes me what an amazing 40 plus year old car design can bring out in everyone of all ages who sees one .. The old design team at Chevy would be very proud of how EVERY new generation loves these cars ..

I'll try and post some more shots this summer maybe we can use this thread to have others post some "CLASSIC AMERICAN" Lemonade stand/car wash pictures of our cars
(Norman Rockwell would be proud as well)

Let's just say that they were all smiling when I left. :) I support the Dare program whenever I can.
