Would like input from all members regarding any experience with Magnaflow mufflers.I'm replacing my rear exhaust system and I'm looking for mufflers that have a nice deep tone, not as loud as side pipes but a few notches lower.I know Corvette Central sells them and a tech person there said they do have a deep tone.Just want everyones advice if they have these types of mufflers.

I like Allen Exhaust

Allen Exhaust Systems in Indiana make a very nice 'off road' reproduction similar in sound as the original N-11 optional system. They sometimes have a fit problem installing.......but the appearance and sound is very close to original. The N-11 system has a very distincitive Corvette only sound. You will like it. And it does not sound like 'Flowmasters'

Put Magnaflows on my 64 and they are OK, good sound and accurate fit. I would put just a bit of antiseize on the exhaust pipe when you do the work. Makes removal of the mufflers later a lot easier. If you have already rechromed your rear bumper or it is in good shape there is no need.

God love my Flowmasters!!!

Magicv8,
Can you answer a few questions?Where did you purchase your Borla mufflers?Does the mufflers also include all exhaust pipes, etc.?Thanks for your help.Lou

This board is very difficult to post on - It never logs me in and this time threw me out as I tried to post this reply.

One more time:

I got the SS Borla Turbos through a JCWhitney sale catalog many years ago. They have 2.5inch centered outlet and 2.5 inch offset inlet. The 2.5inch pipes are from Allen's Stainless. My 350 SB mule 2 inch manifolds connect to 2.5 inch HiPerf SB exhaust pipes, which can be swapped for the 2.5inch BB exhausts I stored with my 427. I got the pipes show priced at a Springfield Bloomington Gold show, and stuffed them inside my 66 roadster to get them home. Allen's bent the custom pipes to connect to the inlet of the Borlas for $30 including freight.

The mufflers hang from plain auto store $1.50 exhaust straps that bolt to an existing frame hole over the outlet. The hole may be for stock brackets, but I wouldn't know - since my car had 3inch pipes coming straight back from the BB headers - when I bought it 17 years ago. I removed the straight pipes to reinstall the spare tire tub. I tossed the hot leaky headers.

You can see the installation on the Details page - linked from my homepage (listed below).
GREAT - now it won't list my signature with the home page link - go to http://www.corvetteforum.net/classics/magicmachine and use the Details link
