Advice sought on front rotors

Just found some severe scoring on one of my front rotors. It's probably 1/32" deep so I'm thinking that I'll need to get the rotors machined, or maybe replaced. Can anyone answer these questions:

1. What's the minimum rotor thickness before they need to be replaced?

2. the rotors are still riveted to the hub. I'm thinking this means they're the original rotors, which means they've done 116,000 miles. I see Zip and others sell rotors without the hubs, so am I right to assume that I can just drill out the rivets the same way people do on the rear rotors?

3. If I drill out the rivets should I put new ones back in? (I'm not that worried about originality, only safety.)

4. Any other points I need to consider before I start work?

Auto Zone says 1.230 inches, it should also be stamped into the rotor.

Check out this article from corvette fever, they just drilled out the rivets and didn't replace them. http://www.corvettefever.com/howto/39038/

As the article says, while you have everything torn apart, consider replacing the bearings and seals while you are at it.

Mine are all drilled out, didn't replace them. The lugnuts hold the assembly together. No regrets.

If you do drill them you might consider marking the orientation of the rotor/hub/stud. Get it back together exactly like it came apart. Some have an air pumping prob with the brakes afterwards due to (they say) rotor runout. I have never experienced that particular prob and I know I have runout on mine.
good luck with it...

berky, that's a great link. Thank you for that. I'll measure my rotors tomorrow, but you say the thickness is stamped on - where?

lone73 - good advice, thank you, I'll be following your suggestions.

I think that the min thickness is stamped between the studs on the hub face of rotor.
