Hi All,
Although I have not posted here for some time, I do drop by occasionally and keep up with the Callaway news. I enjoy it very much. I get the feeling of not being so alone with my enthusiasm for the twin turbo Corvettes.
I just thought I would share with all of you that I am the one who acquired the Aerobody kit that recently sold on Ebay. I have yet to determine I paid too much... I guess time will tell.
During my bid, I was fully aware of the missing pieces and the cost of replacing them, but I am also aware of the new price of one of these kits as well. So my bid was placed accordingly. I have always admired the look of the Aerobody Callaways and long wished I could convert my ’88 Callaway roadster, but the cost always prevented me from doing so. When this opportunity presented itself, I had to take a chance at saving a little money. If I will save any money (over the cost of a new kit) will unfold over the next weeks and months, but if anyone is interested I will continue to post here with updates…
I would like to thank the Corvette Action Center for providing this forum and all who posted with your opinions and information. It was very helpful.
I would especially like to thank SurfnSun for his post regarding the condition of this kit. It was nice of you to take time to inspect and describe this auction here. Knowing the condition from a third party made me a little more comfortable bidding, rather than just seeing the photos and talking with the seller… Thanks so much !
As of now, the kit is being crated up for shipment. Total cost to my door is $641.48. I have already had discussions with Mike V. at Callaway Cars regarding the purchase of any missing parts along with a complete parts list and assembly instructions (if needed).
I will continue to update here and may have questions for some of you Aerobody owners along the way …but for now, I thought some of you may like to know that this kit went to a Callaway owner, and a Corvette Action Center member.
Thanks again to all,
Terry
