hello friends,
i need some advise on what cam i can buy for my Stock 1992 LT1 corvette.

Thanks.

call comp?

I found their tech people knowledgeable and eager to help.

They also helped me define what I wanted from my engine, which is essential to good result.

More power is not well enough defined. :w

Before anyone, including the people at COMP, can suggest a cam you need to provide more information.

What do you expect from a different camshaft?
How will the car be used?
Do you plan other modifications besides a camshaft change? If so what?

Lastly, this question is for my own information so could make a good suggestion...it's unusual for the first change on a stock engine to be the camshaft. Why are you going that direction?

Thanks for the reply, ok its not going to a race car, but i would like to be able to go race it once a while, i am looking to get at least aditional 100hp on it that is why i am asking the experts for some advise. so where should i start?

Adding 100 real ponies won't be easy or cheap. Headers, exhaust system, cam, heads/valves, intake and a pretty good prom should about do it. I was there, working on an LT1 many years ago, and Comp Cams was a great help - they've done it a thousand times.

400-hp from an LT1 which is now stock will require far more than changing the camshaft.

What is your budget for the modifications?

Amen, brother. And then, there's the drivetrain capabilities!

HP is a product and I dunno about you, but I love torque; equals acceleration. Power keeps it going thru wind resistance, etc. but torque, a mathematical factor in computing HP, is what slams ya backwards! Yeah, buddy! :happyanim:

Then part of the questioning becomes, you want that torque at high or low RPM?

I will commend you on asking lots of questions before opening the wallet. More than one in here has lowered their car's fun factor by not asking first. I love my (guided) result and began as you are; wanting more power, and hopefully at least 100 HP. I have the low end 'pull' of a big block (increased the stroke), which the SuperRam enhances, yet the SB pulls hard right to fuel shutoff at 6300. This COMP hydraulic roller allows for steeper cam lobe ramps, which allows a more radical camshaft profile.

I think the car would beat my '71 that got a crate LS6, (old school, solid lifter 454) exhaling (loudly) via Hooker 4" sidepipes.

Rear tires? What rear tires? Ahh, under the smoke! :w
