For those who wanted to see how I installed mine, the pics are and explaination are here.....

Installed on a stock Holley 2818 on my 64 327/365.

The bracket is a Holley 20-9. Ordered from Jegs.
The solenoid is a Wells #E413. Comes with the locknut. Got it at Autozone.

This shot attempts to show the overall arrangement.

This shot attempts to show the mounting screws that go into the throttle plate. The rear hole is already threaded in the stock 2818, the forward hole is not. I used a sheet metal screw in the forward hole.

This shot shows the mod to the throttle return spring. The original location runs right into the solenoid. I moved the bracket to the middle 2 bolts on the intake manifold, and the other end of the springs (I use 2 for personal safety reasons) go to the throttle lever on the firewall. (Yes, the cable attached to the throttle lever is cruise control, and I know about the slight carb leak)

The solenoid is connected to the compressor clutch wire, so it's only on when the compressor is running.

Hope this helps some of you guys.

Edit...Sorry about the large pics, but some detail was lost when I went too small. These are about 30% original size.

great info Paul

I copied you pics and notes into a word document to save for when we do mine

Glad I could help. Any questions or problems with it, give me a hollar.

Remember, mine is installed on a 2818. I haven't looked a the 66-67 variety 3367 Holleys to see if the holes are in the base plates.

NTW, I can fabricate my own mounting bracket and I have longer carb stud mounting bolts if i need them....what I really needed was the solenoid PN...the last time I checked, SummitJegs wanted $90 just for the solenoid....the next time I break down at VNV's house, I was going to walk over to the auto recycling center and liberate a factory unit....

funny, when i was a kid, they were junk yards, now they have parts stacked nice and neat, pre-priced and they play elevator music over the intercom

Make it #487 overall.....i just pulled the dash wire harness on the '65 because one of the tabs to the firewall connector broke off and i Bubba'd it with wire ties and it was time to go.....when i first got the '66, i had a dash fire that started in the dash harness and that scared the crap out of me, so it was only a matter of time before the 65's harness was history...now it's time to put the new harness in...but i digress.....

thanks again to Subfixer..my solenoid arrives this Tuesday at a substantial discount to the cost of the Summit Jegs solenoid ;worship

Subfixer, thanks again!

Got my solenoid. Your number cross references to Echlin #2-2187 from NAPA.
