I plan to purchase aftermarket wheels for my '95 within the next two months. Can you answer some questions for me?

I like the 2000 and 2001 5-spokes.

1. My quandry is whether to go with the polished aluminum or chrome. I like the satin look of the polished over the chrome, but are there really any quality differences between the two?

2. Also, what are the pros and cons of OEM and non-OEM? There is a local wheel warehouse that has 2000 5-spoke polished aluminum OEM's (9.5 x 17) for $1100 complete. Does this seem like a good value? I've seen non-OEM chromes from $900 to $1300.

3. Will OEM 2000 or 2001 fit my '95 without mods?

4. Any special things I should look and ask for? I've noticed that some wheels come without center caps and emblems; others are complete.

I plan to visit Carlisle in August. Are the deals so good that I should wait for that? Will I be able to trade in my stock wheels there? My current stock wheels are 99% (left rear has slight 1/2" blemish). What might I get on trade for those.

As always, thanks folks.

The wheel dealers I don't think take trade ins. I would keep your stock wheels regardless just to have them. Any good rim dealer should be able to tell you what rims will fit. I do not know if the 2000 C5 rims will fit a C4 but I am sure someone on this board does.

Hi Guys
This last weekend I just purchased a set of 4 C5 2000 (sometimes known as the Y2K wheels, from a private party. These wheels were polished, and had Goodyear F1 Run flat tires on them , with about 15000 miles. The guy wanted $950 for the set, but we settled for $850 .These particular wheels were forged, not cast, by the way.

After getting them home, I took off the "Saw blades" off my Dark Metalic Red 94 LT1/6-speed, cleaned up the rotors and calipers, and painted the inside portion of the rotors aluminum, and the cailpers dark metalic red. Then mounted the wheels...WOW....what a difference. They look fantastic. No problem on the fit... Because the rear wheels are 18 inch, I couldn't use my old Goodyears on the new rims....but oh well...I think I got a great deal. I just took some pictures today, but don't have them ready yet. Hope this helps.....

After Market Wheel's...

Hello CompYelC4,

I don't know if you would be interested, but I have a set of 4 BBS three piece wheel's, 17x9.5, they have the silver lace pattern centers, with polished outer pieces. One wheel was sent to the BBS factory and fitted with a new center section, and the factory assembled that one back to spec's, the other three I disassembled, and had the center sections powder coated, (they match the factory painted center very closely) and had the outer rim pieces stripped and polished by a proffesional polisher. I have not re-assembled the other three. I would take $900. for the set, and I would pay the shipping if you are interested ? These wheel's sold for approximately $750. a piece when new. They are the proper offset, and the reason I am selling is I sold my CE '96 and purchased a '99, which these BBS wheels wouldn't fit properly. Steve.
