Air Conditioner Woes!

I have a 94 coupe with auto climate control. The problem that I am having is this. The air conditioning works great for about 20 or 30 minutes, then quits. It will not blow air out of the dash vents even when I put the fan manually on 10. After I turn it off for about 3 or 4 minutes, it works great for about another 20 or 30 minutes, then the same thing. It doesn't seem to be a lack of freon problem. It seems to me that something is freezing and then a few minutes of thawing cures it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Freeze up in the refridgerent lines does happen. Its from charge level and I think blockage can cause this. The evap can freeze up under certain conditions as well. See if the drain is open. Maybe pull the blower motor out and see if the evap intake air passages are clean and open. I washed mine out and pulled a good handful of leaves out.

Check the charge, and check pressure for possible blockage clues.

I agree, you have classic evaporator core freeze up. Check system pressures and go from there. I good set of manifold gauges usually tells all. I bet the low side is too low. I would also consider checking the orifice tube for contamination. Obviously, this requires the system to be evacuated so you'll need an A/C machine.
